Al Lambert, central region director of the Boy Scouts, presented Mr. Chinnery with the award at the Eagle Scout Reception held on February 21, 2016.

The National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA) is a prestigious recognition granted by the local council’s National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) committee to Eagle Scouts who have demonstrated outstanding achievement at the local, state or regional level. The NOESA recognizes Eagle Scouts whose efforts have made a positive impact in the community.

The Eagle Scout is scouting’s highest rank and those who achieve it are encouraged to wear the award with humility, knowing Eagle Scouts are to be looked up to as an example of honor, loyalty, courageousness, cheerfulness and service. The NOESA commends those, like Mr. Chinnery, who use these qualities to guide their actions and endeavors now and in the future.

“As a Boy Scout, I learned how to overcome obstacles and care for my community through various outdoor experiences and service projects. Good citizenship and leadership skills I practiced as a boy in scouting carried over into my adult life. They have served me well over the years, whether I was founding a community bank and ensuring its longevity and stability for the future, or serving on a foundation board. Eagle Scouts have a level of self-confidence and perseverance that help them take on challenges and succeed in both their professional and personal endeavors,” explains Chinnery.

Mr. Chinnery is a long-time resident of eastern Jackson County. He states, “Eight years ago, there were two to three times the number of banking locations in nearby communities as there were in Blue Springs. Education, youth athletics, scouting and community are priorities in Blue Springs, but a bank did not exist to match those.”

Through his involvement with Boy Scouts, Rotary Club, and other area organizations, Mr. Chinnery recognized this void in community-focused banking. In 2008, on the brink of the largest financial crisis in 70 years, Mr. Chinnery opened Adams Dairy Bank in Blue Springs. As president and CEO, Mr. Chinnery has led the bank to having over $110M in assets, and in 2015 BauerFinancial awarded Adams Dairy Bank a five-star ranking. BauerFinancial is the nation’s leading bank rating service, and five stars is the highest possible rating.

Mr. Chinnery’s reputation and achievements in the community and state’s financial industry led Missouri State Treasurer, Clint Zweifel, to appoint Mr. Chinnery to the Investment Advisory Committee. Chinnery also serves on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Bankers Association.

Mr. Chinnery is an active member of the Blue Springs Economic Development Council and the Chamber of Commerce. Previously, he served as treasurer of the St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation.

Mr. Chinnery is a dedicated volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and serves on the Board of Directors for the Heart of America Council, Boy Scouts of America. He is a Silver Beaver and Award of Merit recipient, and now a National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award recipient.

“Not just Mr. Chinnery, but all of our bank’s associates are out in the community every day, talking to residents and local business owners about their goals and obstacles. A bank is often the cornerstone of a community, and so we structure Adams Dairy Bank’s mission and services around ensuring our customers have the banking service and support they need. Mr. Chinnery established and maintains a ‘we succeed by helping others succeed’ scenario,” explains Cathy Lincoln, Adams Dairy Bank’s chairman of the board.
